Since the Southeast Region has such a different climate from the Northeast Region, they have different natural resources!

Oranges, cotton, and sugar cane all grow best in the warm temperatures found in the Southeast Region.  These crops would not survive a cold frost.

Recreation is "the most fun" concept to learn about in social studies.  That's because recreation means fun!

We talked about fun places to visit and things to go do in the Northeast Region.  What's your favorite form of recreation in our region?

Also, our social studies test on the Northeast Region will be during the week before vacation.  Be sure bring your red notebook home each day to study.  You can also click on "social studies" for all our past posts if you like reading online.

Today's game is not a math game!  Geography Venture Capital is about state capitals.  You can play:

Choose It, in which you see a state and have multiple choices to pick from to match the capital.

In Spell It, you have to type the capital of the state shown.

In Locate It, you have to click the spot on the state where the capital city is.

Remember, if you try this game, post your high score in the comments below.

I don't know too many people who can draw the United States from memory.  And make all the states about the right sizes.  And add information like the dates they became states, landforms, cities, national parks, historic events, and climate.  But our presenter today did all that, all while giving a lecture in front of about 80 kids in the art room!  Wow!

What information did you learn at today's Cultural Event?
